چکیده

The reason of this study was to evaluate the action of oxidative stress (OS) induced with hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) on the analgesic, antipyretic and anti-inflammatory effects of aspirin in 7-14 day old chicks. H2O2 at 0.5 % v/v in drinking water induced OS in age 7-14 of the chicks when given freshly. The analgesic Median Effective Dose (ED50) and acute Median Lethal Dose (LD50) values of aspirin have been measured here for the first time and show decreased by 28 and 14 % in the stressed (H2O2 group) of chicks, respectively suggesting an increase of aspirin efficacy and lethality at the same time. Furthermore, there is an increase in the analgesic, antipyretic and anti-inflammatory efficacy of aspirin in the H2O2 H2O2 group of chicks which were both received aspirin at 150 mg/kg, i.m. The data of the present study assume that the analgesic, antipyretic and anti-inflammatory effects of aspirin altered by a state of OS induced with H2O2 in the chicks indicating the possible change in the pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics of aspirin and therefore, should be recommended here to reduce the dose of aspirin in patients suffering from OS status.

Studies on Anti-inflammatory, Analgesic and Antipyretic Properties of Methanol Extract of Caesalpinia bonducella leaves in Experimental Animal Models

The methanol extract of Caesalpinia bonducella leaves were investigated for anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic activity at the doses of 50, 100 and 200 mg/kg, body weight. The experimental paradigms used were carrageenan, dextran, histamine induced pedal edema and cotton pellet induced granuloma for anti-inflammatory activity, while hot plate and acetic acid induced writhing methods w...

An Autopsy Case of a Nonprescription Aspirin Overdose and Chlorine Gas Exposure

Aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid), with fewer adverse reactions than salicylic acid, was first generated as an antipyretic analgesic through acetylation of salicylic acid in the late 19th century [1-3]. Since then, aspirin has long been used as an ingredient in anti-inflammatory agents worldwide and is commonly used as a drug with antiinflammatory, antipyretic and analgesic effects, as well as ant...

Comparison between 3-Nitrooxyphenyl acetylsalicylate (NO- ASA) and O-(acetylsalicyloxymethyl)-1-(pyrrolidin-1-yl)diazen- 1-ium-1,2-diolate (NONO-ASA) as Safe Anti-Inflammatory, Analgesic, Antipyretic, Antioxidant Prodrugs

Chronic inflammation is an underlying etiological factor in carcinogenesis; nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and their chemically modified NO-releasing prodrugs (NO-NSAIDs) are promising chemopreventive agents. The aim of this study was to conduct a head-to-head comparison between two NO-ASAs possessing different NO donor groups, an organic nitrate [3-nitrooxyphenyl acetylsalicylat...
